Vehicle Insurance policy

It’s always advisable to read through the terms and conditions of your motor policy so that you are familiar with the cover that is in place.

Below are a list of things that one needs to be aware of when it comes to your motor insurance policy:

  • What is the excess payable following an accident?
  • What is the excess payable following theft and / or hijack?
  • What is the age excess applicable following an accident, theft and or hijack, if such vehicle is in the control and custody of someone under the age of 26 or who has been licensed for less than two years?
  • Usage of the vehicle. Make sure the vehicle usage noted on the policy coincides for the actual usage that the vehicle is being used for.
  • Car hire is not automatically included, this cover has to be requested. If you are someone that is reliant on your motor vehicle and cannot be without a vehicle for whatever reason, make sure your policy includes the car hire extension which will provide you with a loan vehicle following a valid accident, theft and / or Hijacking claim
  • Disclosure of material facts. Make sure all material facts such as previous claims, regardless whether they were covered or not, are disclosed to the insurance company. Failure to do so could result in any future claims being repudiated.
